Belated thank yous

birthday-yarn
Chris and Jeanne really know how to send a package of cheer at just the right time. There was a big package for me from them waiting at the post office which I collected on Monday morning. Perfectly timed to bring some cheer after the sad events last Sunday. The yarn is so pretty – there is a skein of Blackberry Ridge DK yarn in the Joyce’s Choice colourway. I thought of James Joyce’s novel Ulysses when I read the name. Ty Dy Socks is so stunning that I snatched it up and started knitting it that day.

birthday-gifts
They also included lots of lovely books which I’m looking forward to reading, some knitting goodies, very cute black kitty pot holders and a massive bag of Bugles :) They know me so well :) Thank you so much Chris and Jeanne – you are awesome.

breakfast-table
Thanks also to pao who gave me the most amazingly pretty pepper grinder to go with the cruets Auntie H gave me. I’m so lucky. They look super on the breakfast table with the beautiful glass side plates that Rachel gave me (they are under the napkins – sorry!). Thanks, Rachel!!

teen-kitty
I was feeling a tad low on Sunday morning as I was really missing Ariel until I came out of church and saw this friendly kitty in the gardens who cheered me up immensely. pao and I were both quite tired from our little trip to Bletchley and St Albans and the shock of going back to work then a course in Reading on Saturday so we needed a break. We took ourselves off to Leeds Castle just to relax a bit.

knitting
We spent lots of time just sitting under a tree (pao was asleep as usual) just watching people go by. I am now proudly on some Indian man’s holiday video as he, like many of the passersby, was fascinated by the knitting and I got to witness a stretch limo pull up with a load of wedding guests piling out.

When we got back in the evening, we looked at the sign we found advertising a ginger kitten and it sounded hopeful as the woman said the kitten was ginger so we duly headed off to have a look. The kitten was most definitely not a ginger tabby but more of a calico. Even though she was very pretty, the guy wasn’t going to let us see the mummy cat and I wouldn’t buy a kitten if I couldn’t see the mummy cat so we walked away under the watchful eye of the daddy cat and his cat chum who’d followed us up the driveway. We’re really after another ginger girl. We’ve been so blessed by the two we had already.

You’re very, very welcome – I’m so glad the package arrived at an especially helpful time for you. And good luck on your ginger girl search!

Bugles! We always used to put them on our fingers and make “witchy-poo” fingers! Lovely gifts for a lovely girl. Glad they boosted your spirits a bit.

I’d want to see the mama cat too. Another kitten will come your way eventually.

  4. Jeanne Says:

I have no doubt the right ginger kitten will eventually show up. Nature abhors a vacuum, after all, and a cat-vacuum even more.

Why on earth wouldn’t he let you see the mummy cat? That sounds like a bad sign.

Ooh, great giftees! I love Linda Barnes and it looks as if there are a few more out now….I see someone wants to read it before you though.
