Finally Trekking as it all falls down around me

This is the most awake I’ve been today as I’ve been back to see the doctor again and he has certified me for another week. This time though, he took blood and pee samples and is going to carry out some “further investigations”. He decided to give me a course of antibiotics to try and shift the pain which has been emanating from my sinuses – these could qualify for a Project Spectrum entry on their own being big and yellow. After taking one of the monsters, I immediately started to feel extremely nauseous and promptly went off to zzz land. So hopefully the antibodies are actually running round doing pitched battle in my body or I want my money back.
Some of my Trekking from Germany has arrived – hooray!

Colour 77

Colour 109 which is what I am using for the Trek-along. (sorry it’s so blurry, I was half-way to zzz land when I took this)

I’m blown away by the kindness of bloggers. Sarah very kindly offered to send me a ball of Trekking last week when she read about my predicament. It hasn’t arrived yet but when it does, I’m planning on knitting a second Trekalong pair of socks in her honour. I don’t know which colour she is sending but I love a surprise. If you don’t know her, please go and along and wish her lovely dog Murph well as he is poorly at the moment. (He’s extremely cute, too)
We had a small disaster when pao got home from work this afternoon. I think I touched the cupboard slightly and the inner shelf fell down.

Bearing in mind that all the crockery we had received as wedding presents was in that cupboard, it was a bit scary. Especially scary when we know that Denby don’t actually make that particular colour (Boston) any more. But we only had one casualty. A rice bowl which for some reason one of my colleagues had put on my wedding list for me and then promptly bought four but didn’t have the other eight she’d had added removed. We ended up with eleven in the end – don’t ask. It wasn’t bad as the casualty only happened when we were removing crockery from the cupboard.

Thankfully pao and his glue and nails can fix it. I just think it was a slight freak accident since the cupboard has been happily holding all our crockery for the last five years and has been a store cupboard for three or four before that.

It was a bit scary moving crockery when you’re feeling shaky (ssh, I didn’t tell pao I was feeling like that at the time).

Here is a bit of a sneak preview of what I’m going to be doing during Wimbledon fortnight. Wimbledon really is the only tennis match I’d willingly watch and it is even more special as I used to live near and briefly used to work there. So this year, I’m making Wimbledon socks during the two weeks. It is also ideal for Project Spectrum as it is purple and black are my favourite colours!

Sending you a great big heart (yes, that is another trifle made by pao, yummy) for all your kind words and comments recently.
And a gratuitous cat photo:

Black cats are great fun, aren’t they? But Merlin looks ridiculous when he’s pretending to be a superhero.
Mrs. Pao- Don’t you know cat yoga when you see it. It’s a variation on the downward dog!
LOL at Lorraine.
More tests? That doesn’t sound good, except that he gave you more time off & some meds. Hopefully they’ll find out what you’ve got & fix it.
Pretty yarn! Scary crockery stories. Not too bad that that was the only casualty.
Sure hope they sleuth out what’s going on with you soon and you’re on the quick road to recovery!
PS – your crockery is beautiful!
Gosh, I’m so sorry you’re still under the weather! ((hugs))
Glad there was only the one crockery casualty, and it sounds like you had spares of that one??
Your Trekking is lovely! I have colors 76 and 78, so your 77 is right in between – and that’s the first picture I’ve seen of it!
Hopefully the antibiotics help you start feeling better.
Are you sure that’s Merlin and not Chaos visiting you through a wormhole?!
Looks like I’m not the only one with gorgeous pussy cats, Mrs Pao. How do YOU live with such cuteness?
that’s a gorgeous tummy, just waiting to be scratched!
Love the Trekking colors.
Wimbledon is the only tennis we watch, too, mostly because I insist on it, for sentimental reasons. Wimbledon was going on the entire time I was in the UK, from beginning to end… it was a great introductory subject for getting to know people at breakfast at the B&B’s, and on one of the last days of our stay, all the borders in our B&B sat down in the parlor together and watched the famous finals match between Borg and McEnroe. Since my boyfriend at the time was a HUGE Borg fan, and I disapproved of McEnroe’s bratty behavior, we were in a lovely state of unity with all the other (British & European) guests there, and it was great fun.
Right after the game we high-tailed it to Edinburgh, where we were staying for a day or so prior to heading to Gatwick… and it was the Queen Mum’s birthday, and for some reason the royal procession decided to go down the teensy little 2-block long street our B&B was on, so we were among the six or so people to see that particular leg of their journey. So I was personally waved at by the Queen Mum *and* Elizabeth, with eye contact and everything.
Wimbledon brings back those memories, among many others.
(we also like the grass courts, because it makes volleys more likely to happen, and we get bored with the all-power-no-finesse-you-can’t-follow-this-ball games you get nowadays on the other types of courts)
I have no idea who we will be rooting for this year. But I’m pretty sure I’ll be knitting up something while we’re watching… so I’ll be connected to you by a thin psychic strand of wool!
ooooh, i SO love the black cats–esp. when they roll for the tummy rub! what lovely pictures, i’d never guess you we’re feeling so Darth Sickiness.
your blog is such fun to read, please do be on the mend. (there’s not much worse than the multicolored sputum colorway, eeesh)
so just you cuddle with many cats and drink honeyed tea. i’ve read that the vibratory frequency of a cat’s purr has healing qualities…they (“they” being scientists? veterinarians? cat aficionados? sry, i forget) “they” hypothesize that this property of the cat-purr may be part of the reason that cats suffer less than dogs (as one example) from arthritis, hip problems, and heal so quickly from their injuries.
so just spread cats out on affected areas and call us in the morning
