A trip to Casualty

pao is having to type today’s entry. As I have sustained an injury on my way to the fridge this evening which resulted in a large gash in my elbow, lots of blood and a trip to casualty for glueing (which did not work as it came apart and started bleeding again) and a tetanus shot. So no knitting or other activity tonight as its very painfull but I did ask the emergency nurse if I was allowed to knit still and he said “it was ok as long as I put a cushion under my arm”. Once the bleeding stops sock no2 will resume.

I had a dilemma when starting sock2: with the self patterning wool I could have tried to find a similar start point as sock1 or just go with the randomness. Guess what I went with the randomness so my socks won’t match. Don’t ask me to wallpaper for you :-)

Oh no!!! You are certainly having a very challenging run this Olympics! I hope the bleeding stops VERY VERY soon. Ouch! Ouch!

Nothing wrong with fraternal twin socks. :)

Love the kitty picture – altho it totally set me up for a cat injury, not a mrspao injury!!

Ow, ow! Are you okay? What a run of bad luck you’re having!

I never try and match up pairs of socks – I kind of like the matching but not quite matching thing, and the trying to match them always makes my head hurt.

And I’m with Chris here – I thought this was going to be a cat injury! What’s with the collar on that cat?

  3. Chris Says:

Maybe they’re collecting snow in the collar. :)

Chris, you are so mean!! :D

Mrs. Pao, you just get well fast as fast can be… lots of rest. And therapeutic knitting. ;)

I forgot to tell you something important:

    1. The eye operation will probably be surprisingly easy, and easy to recover from. The Pirate was amazed, really, as was the Vampire, who recovered within a day or so from his horrific accident. And my ex brother-in-law put a huge hook through his eye, and recovered within a week or so. I guess the cells in your eye turn over in 24 hours or so, so the eye recovers almost miraculously quickly!

    2. My father in law died nearly two years ago now, and he was a cornea donor. It was a HUGE comfort to everyone in the family to think of that. It gave his death some meaning, to feel that some good came out of it. There was a big ceremony that the Association gave at the end of the year for the families of eye donors, and we heard the same thing from all of them.

So don’t feel badly about being one of the people who make that possible – and if the surgery goes as positively as I hope it does, do write that letter; it could mean so much to the donor’s family!

Chris/Peevish: I was sparing you the sight of the big cut. It is probably one of the most awkward places for a cut as everytime I bend my elbow e.g. to type it starts bleeding again. The ever so lovely Mrs SJT has bandaged me nicely today – thank you Mrs SJT.

Jasper had had a bite on the posterior so he had to wear the collar for a couple of weeks to stop him from biting out all of his stitches. He is never keen to stay inside when there is fun to be had outside. We don’t have snow shovels in the country so we send him out to work :)

I like the randomness of the socks – they will be quite similar but not completely which I think is cute!

Eileen: Thank you. I know the op won’t take long so fingers crossed for a speedy recovery x

Mama_Tulip: Thanks. You don’t sound like you are having such a great time either – hope things are better.
