Making Monday: To rip or not to rip?

Help! Here is my dear Dover Castle Shawl. I knitted up the first ball of yarn and am now adding the gray border but I freely admit, I’m not certain. I am torn. I don’t know if I like it like that. I am wondering if I should have knit the gray first then put the border on or dispensed with the border all together and made a mini-shawl.

I’ve shaped it into a V here to try and see what it might look like finished. (Yes, that is my especially helpful helper again) I want to keep knitting the border until I run out of grey as I love the yarn and want a slightly bigger shawl. I’ve used around 20g on the 16 stitch border so far and reckon I could keep on going for at least 32 more rows with the 80g I have left. But… do carry on? Does it look ok? Or I could completely frog the gray border and use some other yarn of a similar shade to do the border with… I don’t know if that would work or not as it is a very slightly different weight etc.

I’m wavering so please give do give me your opinions.

I don’t think Sirius minds either way as he just wants to sit on it.

It’s very hard to tell from the pictures…I think it looks pretty good, but really it’s what you think that matters. Perhaps pin out a section on the bed so you can see what it is going to look like blocked?

Mrs Pao- I think it looks lovely, and once you block it, it will look totally different.

I looked on The Ravelry and saw this:

I think it is kind of like yours will be. Most people seem to have done one colour, but looking at the different coloured edging it looks nice.
But in the end YOU have to like it!!

It looks gorgeous. Finish it. And if you still hate it, send it to me. (Self serving? No! Helpful. :)

It looks fabulous to me, but you have to be happy with it or you won’t use it. So it ultimately comes down to what you like best!
