Motley

motleylr#3

I’ve been busy these past few weeks getting ready for my latest show ‘Motley’ which I’m doing with 9 other artists.

motley
I wanted to really change my look so I spent a lot of time thinking about introducing height and interest and came up with some ideas around cakes (again – no surprise).

motley2
My idea came about when I found an Edwardian wooden folding cake stand in a vintage shop in Margate.

motley3
I like the way that it has added height and the wire frame was a last minute addition which I love – it is simple, light and easy.

Motley is on for a week from today 30 April to 6 May at the Horsebridge Centre, Whitstable.

Yesterday my friend Susie and I did a stall at the first ever Faversham Hat Festival and what a great event it was.

Susie brought her amazing crocheted earrings and painted eggs and I brought lots of chocolate and some earrings to the fair and we had a very good time indeed. Somehow I managed not to take a photo of our lovely stall her incredible painted eggs so you’ll just to have a look at her blog for those.

We sat and knit socks and had such a good time chatting and meeting people. I even won a prize for my hat which I’d made several weeks ago at my friend Rachel’s hat-making workshop. pao turned up so we could have a well-deserved mooch around Faversham whilst he minded shop for us. We saw some terrific hats – many weird and wonderful ones.
